Among other ascents in the Cordillera Blanca, the book details the first ascent of Nevado Huantsan (6,395 metres) in 1952 by the authors, both Dutch climbers, despite many difficulties along the way. They were accompanied, and led, by Lionel Terray, fresh from his success on Annapurna in 1950.
