Professor Giuseppi Tucci (1894-1984) was an Italian scholar of East Asian studies who specialised in Tibetan culture and the history of Buddhism. This large-format, well illustrated in colour and black-and-white, volume on Tibet covers History, Religion, Art, Daily Life, Birth Marriage Sickness and Death, Tibetan Literature and Administration, along with a short bibliography. Photographs by Wim Swaan, Edwin Smith and others. Tucci was an acknowledged expert and leading research academic on Tibetan language and culture who made eight visits to Tibet and regions such as Ladakh between 1927 and 1948.
