Following the opening up of Tibet, the story of the reconnaissance in 1996 and the 2 expeditions in 1997 and 1998 to Tibet’s ‘secret mountain’, the 22,800 foot unclimbed Sepu Kangri located in the remote eastern Tibetan Highlands. Bad weather foiled the first expedition and the second came close to success, which was eventually achieved in 2002 by an American team.
