Description
Published by Dark Peak Sheffield, 1978, 1st Edition, some foxing top edge, D/w (spine faded, small tear top of back cover, edges worn), V.G.. Story of the 1976 first ascent of Trango The Nameless Tower, 6,237 metres, by one of two climbing film cameramen who accompanied the expedition. First spotted by Joe Brown in 1957 when returning from his Mustagh Tower ascent, it took until 1975 for Brown to return and attempt it unsuccessfully. Success came in 1976 with Brown, Mo Anthoine, Martin Boysen and Malcolm Howells, supported by cameramen Curran and Tony Riley. This was the first book by Jim Curran (1943 – 2016), though he went on to write many more (he was a five time nominee for The Boardman Tasker Award), notably on K2, various Bonington expeditions, and autobiographical works.
