volume of his autobiography, Doug Scott (1941-2020) tells his story from his birth in Nottingham during the darkest days of war to the summit of Everest, which he climbed with Dougal Haston on 24th September 1975.  They became the first Britons to climb Everest.  Doug will be remembered as one of the world’s leading mountaineers, making over 40 Expeditions to the Greater Ranges and Big Walls with over 30 first ascents and winning a Piolet D’Or Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011; but also for his charity work in Nepal, setting up Community Action Nepal and regularly visiting the projects it has undertaken, building and sustaining schools, hostels and health clinics for over 25 years for the benefit of the people of the high Himalayas.
