Published by Weldons, Australia, 1987, Reprint of 1985 1st Edition, D/w, Fine. This is a personal account of the 1984 Australian Expedition to Mount Everest, which resulted in Tim Macartney-Snape and Greg Mortimer being the first Australians to summit Everest, alpine style, without oxygen and by a new and severe route on Everest’s North Face. It has a wealth of spectacular photographs, provides a history of Everest Expeditions, gives a fascinating glimpse of life in Tibet in the far west of China, and is very well written. Lincoln Hall (1955 – 2012) was one of Australia’s few world-class mountaineers, with a particular affinity for Nepal, where he climbed on Dunagiri, Ama Dablam, Trisul and Annapurna 2, amongst other peaks, as well as leading many treks and expeditions.
