Signed on the title page by the author “With compliments, Dora H De Beer 1971”. De Beer was part of a group of mountaineers who travelled from Burma to China and made 2 attempts on Satsito, the snowy mountain of Li-Kiang. The team, of New Zealand and Australian climbers, was led by Marie Byles (author of By Cargo Boat and Mountain) and included Mick Bowie, head guide at the Hermitage.
