Fine.   The author, a British alpinist and member of the Alpine Club, climbed extensively in the French and Swiss Alps and did much to popularise and promote Arolla as a climbing centre, including authoring the 1908 guide to the area.  These memoirs cover 26 seasons climbing and wandering, mainly in the latter part of the nineteenth century.
