Andrews (1868-1959) authored this first pocket guidebook to climbs in North Wales to be published by the Climbers Club (established 1898).  Thomson climbed extensively in North Wales, particularly on the cliffs of Lliwedd, with contemporaries such as Oscar Eckenstein.  Andrews is also known as the ‘father’ of Cornish sea cliff climbing, having made early ascents of Commando Ridge in 1902 and Ledge Climb in 1905, and with E.C. Pyatt authoring the first Climbers Club guide to Cornwall in 1950 (at the age of 82!), as well as competing at Wimbledon as an amateur tennis player.
