Fine.   Detailed account of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctica Expedition of 1955-1958, led by Fuchs, whose team set out from Shackleton Base, with Hillary, whose role was to blaze a trail for the crossing party to follow after they had reached the Pole, setting out from Scott Base. Hillary’s party became the first to reach the South Pole by land since Captain Scott, 46 years earlier.
