Published by The Crowood Press, 1991, Softback Edition of 1989 1st Edition, Fine.   This was the definitive guide to the 18 permitted trekking peaks at the time of publication.  These peaks, opened in 1978, gave mountaineers the potential for adventure and exploration without the large scale and expensive expeditions that has hitherto been the norm.  The title is a little misleading as many of the peaks require mountaineering experience and are of a high alpine standard with many still being the objective for small self-contained groups and, increasingly, guided groups.
